Ancient means very old. The word can also be used in these ways:
- Ancient history — the period of written history starting more or less 5,000–5,500 years ago.
- Ancient (band) — the progressive black metal musical group.
- Ancient (company) — the Japanese software developer.
- Ancient — used to refer to an ensign in medieval times, appearing in texts such as Shakespeare's Othello.
