Description: St Martin's Church , Haddington St Martin's Church was originally a chapel belonging to St Mary's Nunnery (located about a mile to the east). It was built in the early 12th century, and was altered in the 13th century when a structure was vaulted and buttresses added. It was probably used by both the nuns and the people of Haddington. In the 17th century, it became a Protestant place of worship but eventually fell into decay. Although there is no visible signs, it is thought that the area around the church was used for burials until the 19th century.
