Description: Cooktown Lifghthouse, 2005 The Cooktown Lighthouse is situated on Grassy Hill (300m above sea level). It is an automatic light now, but was once manned. The lighthouse is an historic feature of Cooktown. It was built in England, transported to Cooktown, and erected in 1885. It was automated in 1927 and was complemented by a Radar station during 1942-5.
