Description: Click Mill, Dounby, Orkney. This is a primitive type of corn mill. The water-wheel is horizontal, so the water has to be directed to one side of the wheel, which turns the upper millstone directly. This mill was built in the 19C, but there had been a mill here long before that. This photo was taken in 1974.
