Yumika Yokoyama (横山 友美佳, Yokoyama Yumika, 2 March 1987 - 17 April 2008) was a Japanese volleyball player.
Life and career
Yumika Yokoyama was born on 2 March 1987 in Beijing. She studied at Shimokitazawa Seitoku High School and Waseda University. Her school friend was volleyball player Saori Kimura.
She played at the 2004 FIVB World Grand Prix. She wanted to play in the 2008 Summer Olympics. However, she died before the event.
She was diagnosed with cancer. She died of rhabdomyosarcoma on 17 April 2008, aged 21.
She wrote a book, Ashita mo mata ikite ikou (明日もまた生きていこう, Ashita mo mata ikite ikou, lit. Let's live again tomorrow). It was adapted into a Japanese television drama in 2010.
