The Mentalist is an American drama television series that ran from September 23, 2008 to February 18, 2015, on CBS.
The Mentalist is a crime drama or police procedural show, meaning that it focused on people in law enforcement solving crimes. The story is about a fictional law enforcement group called the California Bureau of Investigation. The main character, played by actor Simon Baker is a man who used to be a con artist. Specifically, he pretended to be a psychic but really he was good at watching people and figuring out when they were lying. The show also starred female lead Robin Tunney.
For much of the story, the characters try to catch a serial killer called "Red John."
