The Engine House facts for kids

Outside of The Engine House, 6 March 2009

The Engine House is an education centre at Highley station on the Severn Valley Railway, in Shropshire, England. Opened in March 2008, it houses some of the railway's out of service locomotives, wagons and coaches. In addition to the equipment listed below, exhibits include railway artifacts and a film about the Severn Valley Railway. Amenities include a restaurant, gift shop and picnic area.

No. 4566	GWR 45xx Class 2-6-2T	1924	Boiler ticket expired in Jan 2017. Moved to the Engine House in June 2018.
No. 5764	GWR 57xx Class 0-6-0PT	1929	Last worked in 2011. Moved to the Engine House in June 2018. Repainted in London Transport livery as L95 in 2019.
No. 7819 "Hinton Manor"	GWR 78xx "Manor" Class 4-6-0	1933	Last worked in 1995. Moved into the Engine House in March 2019.
No. 46443	LMS Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0	1950	Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet. Withdrawn from traffic Oct 2011 due to severe corrosion of the steam pipe seating face on the superheater header which was causing leakage. Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet.
No. 47383	LMS Fowler Class 3F 0-6-0T	1926	Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet.
No. 48773	LMS Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0	1940	Arrived at the museum during Summer 2008. Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet. Moved to Kidderminster in June 2018 for 50th anniversary end of steam celebrations, now in store.
No. 80079	BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T	1954	Returned from Shildon Locomotion Museum in 2007. Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet.
No. 7 Typhoon	15 in (381 mm) gauge 4-6-2	1927	On loan from the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway

No. 7714	GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT	1930	Arrived upon withdrawal from service in October 2009; left in March 2011 for overhaul at Bridgnorth and now operational as of December 2016.
No. 4930 Hagley Hall	GWR 4900 Class 4-6-0	1929	Returned from Swindon Designer Outlet in 2007. Removed in September 2013 for overhaul, return to traffic expected for 2019.
No. 7325	GWR 4300 Class 2-6-0	1932	Returned from Swindon Steam Railway Museum in 2007. Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet.
No. 45110	LMS Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0	1935	Returned from Barrow Hill Engine Shed in October 2013 to replace Hagley Hall. Part of the Ex Severn Valley Railway Home Fleet. Hauled the Fifteen Guinea Special from Liverpool to Manchester and back on 11 August 1968.
No. 2 Prince	George England and Co. 0-4-0ST+T	1863	On loan from the Ffestiniog Railway. Arrived following withdrawal from service in 2010; left in summer 2012 for overhaul and returned to service in May 2013.
No. 3 Sir Haydn	Falcon Works 0-4-2ST	1878	On loan from the Talyllyn Railway. Arrived in October 2013 and left in February 2015 for overhaul to begin.
