Sun Microsystems Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA) is a major supplier of UNIX based computers and are the makers of the Solaris operating system and the SPARC line of microprocessors. The company is in Santa Clara, California. It was started in 1982 by Vinod Khosla, Andy Bechtolsheim, and Scott McNealy. It has grown to become one of the largest makers of UNIX computers in the world. In January 2010, it was bought by Oracle Corporation.
