The Strait of Malacca is a marine strait. It links the Andaman Sea and the Java Sea. It is about 800 km long. Most of the time, it is between 50 kilometres (31 mi) and 300 kilometres (190 mi) wide. At its narrowest point, it is only 1.5 nautical miles (2.8 km; 1.7 mi) wide. At its shallowest point it is about 25 metres (82 ft) deep.
