Soman facts for kids
Soman is the name of a nerve agent, which was developed in Germany, in 1944. Nato uss the abbreviation GD for Somam. During the 1930s, and 1940s, three nerve agents were developed. The two others were Tabun (1936) and Sarin (1942). Soman is the most stable of the three. Sunlight does not affect it. In the air, it will slowly decompose. It cannot be dissolved in water. Under standard conditions is a colorless liquid.
Soman is a chemical weapon. Producing, stockpililng or owning it is heaily regulated, and monitored by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
