Rosary facts for kids
The Rosary is a Catholic form of prayer using beads. It is a cycle of repeated formal prayers, such as the Lord's Prayer and the Hail Mary, done while thinking about important events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. This is called "saying the Rosary" or "praying the Rosary." A rosary can also be the series of joined beads that a person holds while saying these prayers.
A person who says a Rosary usually thinks about certain events from the Bible. Each day has a traditional list of these events, called "Mysteries of the Rosary."

After making the Sign of the Cross, the Rosary is typically prayed using rosary beads as follows: (1) Apostle's Creed on the crucifix, (2) Lord's Prayer on the first large bead, (3) Hail Mary on the next three smaller beads, (4) Glory Be on the gap before the next large bead, (5) Announcing the mystery, with the Lord's Prayer on each large bead, Hail Mary on each of the ten adjacent small beads and Glory Be on the gap before the next large bead. Once five decades have been prayed, concluding prayers are typically said.
