Prompton is located at 41°34′56″N 75°19′48″W / 41.58222°N 75.33000°W (41.582133, -75.329922).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km2), of which 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (7.51%) is water.
