Nabi Tajima (田島 ナビ, Tajima Nabi, 4 August 1900 – 21 April 2018) who is the second oldest Japanese person ever at the age of 117 years and 260 days. She was also the oldest living person for 7 months. She was at the time of her death the oldest Japanese person ever and the oldest person ever from Asia. She is also the last verified person that was alive during the 19th century. She was the last member of the Lost Generation.
Tajima became the oldest living person in Japan in 2015 when the death of a 115-year-old anonymous woman. She became the world's oldest verified living person in 2017 upon the death of Violet Brown. Brown was aged 117.
Biography
Tajima was born in Araki in the westernmost part of Kikaijima Island. She lived in Kikai. She had 9 children .
As of September 2011, she had 28 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren. As of September 2017, she had over 160 descendants, including great-great-great grandchildren.
Tajima died on 21 April 2018 at her home in Kikai, Kagoshima, Japan at the age of 117.
