Location and features

The Bastyan Dam across the Pieman River was built by the Hydro-Electric Commission in 1983. The dam created a 123,520-megalitre (4,362×10^6 cu ft) reservoir, called Lake Rosebery, with a surface area ranging from 744 hectares (1,840 acres), drawn from a catchment area of 1,397 square kilometres (539 sq mi).

The lake is located near the village of Tullah.

The diverted Emu Bay Railway line and the Wee Georgie Wood Railway line run close to the lake.
