Sir James Alexander Mirrlees FRSE FBA (5 July 1936 – 29 August 2018) was a Scottish economist. He was the winner of the 1996 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. He was knighted in the 1997 Birthday Honours.
Mirrlees died on 29 August 2018 in Cambridge, England at the age of 82.
