James Clarence Irwin (June 7, 1929 – March 21, 2018) was an American military personnel. He was a retired vice admiral in the United States Coast Guard. He was Vice Commandant from 1986 to 1988. Irwin was born in Des Moines, Iowa.
Irwin died on March 21, 2018 of Alzheimer's disease in Chandler, Arizona at the age of 88.
