Description: Parascapular spine of Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis. Symtemtic position: Stegosuridae, Stegosauria, Ornithischia. Locality: Zhongquan, Zigong, Sichuan, China. Age: Late Jurassic (about 150 million years ago). The comma-shaped parascapular spines of stegosaurs were once called "parasacral spines" and regarded as a pair of bones connected with pelvic girdles. The parascapular spines of Gigantspinosaurus sichuanensis, articulated symmethically with its shoulder bones, proved that the were a pair of special bones connecting with the shoulders of stegosaurs dinosaurus for the first time.
