Description: Architectural sketch made by Willis Polk for his client Charles Stetson Wheeler, illustrating the building project known as "The Bend" on the McCloud River near Mount Shasta in Northern California. This Shingle-style building was torn down by William Randolph Hearst and rebuilt by Julia Morgan to be a Gothic stone building. The Wheeler Ranch land on which this was sited was purchased by Hearst and joined with the Wyntoon property.
