Begun in 1250 and perhaps completed around 1255) arms of Cantilupe; folio 165v[1]: Inverted arms of William III de Cantilupe (d.1254), 3rd feudal baron of Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire, referring to his death. Not (as in the British Library catalogue[2]) referring to the death of his uncle Walter de Cantilupe, Bishop of Worcester, who died in 1266, thus 7 years after the death of Matthew Paris. The events on the folios before and after 165v all refer to the year 1254.
