Image: Western Fence Lizard Courting
Description: I took this picture myself at Mill Creek Scenic Area Zab 10:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC) While hiking at the Mill Creek Scenic Area in Prospect, we came upon the Mill Creek Giant Boulders. We noticed the female lizard on a log bobbing her head. The male took about 30 seconds to arrive, appearing from the rocks on the creek bank. The male tried to circle the female several times, with 10-15 second pauses in between. She responded by only slight movements, but would not allow the male to enter a mating position with her. After a good 140+ seconds of rejection, the male departed into the rocks from which he came. Zab 12:09, 28 May 2007 (UTC) From the location, this would be Sceloporus occidentalis subsp. occidentalis Baird and Girard, 1852.[1] Walter Siegmund (talk) 06:22, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
