Image: Warren Memorial Fountain by Bashka Paeff Westbrook, Maine
Description: This photo depicts a bronze sculpture of a boy and a dog by Bashka Paeff. The nude boy is seated on a rock and directing a flow of water to a pool below so that his dog can drink. The boy is modeled on a grandson of John Warren. The Belgian Police Dog is based on a pet of Sherman Whipple of Boston. Cornelia Warren of Waltham, Massachusetts commissioned the sculpture in honor of John E. Warren, owner of the Cumberland Paper Mills in Westbrook, Maine. The concept was developed and executed by Paeff, a Boston sculptor. It was exhibited at her 1919 show at the Guild of Boston Artists. It is installed behind Frasier field overlooking the Presumpscot River in sight of the Paper Mill.
