Description: HQ of the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction, downtown Olympia, Washington, seen from Sylvester Park. Statue in foreground is John Rankin Rogers; statue dedicated 1905. Designed by Willis A. Ritchie and built 1890–1892 as the Thurston County Courthouse, it served 1905–1928 as the state capitol building. A fire in 1928 resulted in the loss of a central tower.
