Main landmarks visible in the photo (from right to left) are the Canada Life Building (under construction), the Toronto Armouries (since demolished), the Royal York Hotel, the Bank of Commerce tower, the (now "old") City Hall, and the Eaton's factory and mail order buildings (since demolished). The low-rise neighbourhood in the foreground of the centre of the photo was known as "the Ward".
