Description: View from Back O The Beck. Looking down to the Eller Beck, which runs parallel here to the Springs Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal (left). Between the two some people are crossing a white footbridge over a sluice, which controls the flow of water from canal to beck (see 1081474 ). On the near bank is another sluice, which was used to ensure a consistent flow from the Eller Beck in the days when mills downstream were powered by water. Further back on the grass is a redundant piece of sluice gear. The wooden footbridge across the beck was built in 1999. Some of the information for this description was found in a trail designed for children, but instructive for adults too - see www.wow4water.net/media/images/2007815141356.pdf
