Description: The outside veer, "high dive", or 12 veer play is used to attack a wide defensive end with a good probability of a give on the quick dive. It is a staple of the veer offense and along with the inside veer is one of the two most common base plays used by practitioners of the offense. It is traditionally used against odd defenses or those with a wide end. This play is the main reason veer teams use split backs, as all other veer plays could be run with the fullback behind the quarterback.
