Description: The U.S. Navy stationary training ship USS Pandemonium (PCDC-1) at Naval Station Treasure Island, California (USA). Pandemonium was built on Treasure Island by the Atomic-Biological-Chemical Defense Section ot the U.S. Naval School Command to train crews in ABC-warfare. It resembled a submarine chaser (PC) and was 52.3 m long with a beam of 7.3 m. Pandemonium was christened on 1 February 1957. Radioactive materials were placed on the land-locked ship in order to train crews in radioactive detection and cleanup. The Pandemonium remained in use until July 1969. It was moved from its original site and then demolished in 1996.
