Description: Turret 26b (Brunton). The turret was excavated by John Clayton in 1878 and 1880. It measures 12ft 9in by 11ft 6in (internally). The wing wall to the west is bonded with the Broad Wall (10ft wide). On the east side, the Broad Foundation approaches the turret, but the Narrow Wall (6ft wide) and with its own foundation, rides up over the six courses of the broad wing wall. {Source: "Handbook to the Roman Wall" (14th Edition) by J Collingwood Bruce.} See also 1220037.
