Description: The medina (old town) of sanaa is a chaotic maze of narrow lanes where time seems to have stopped in the Middle Ages. Tall tower houses with whitewashed window frames and stain glassed windows line the streets that seem to have been thrown with no regard to planning. Occasionally, some larger squares are occupied by orchards and communal vegetable gardens.
