Description: The author of this photo is me, David Shankbone. It was taken 5 August 2006. On Avenue B and 8th Street looking north, at the Christadora House, a high-rise luxury aparttment building in the East Village of New York City. It was for many the first symbol of gentrification in the neighborhood, and played a role in the Tompkins Square Park Police Riots.
