Image: Tomb at Wari ruins near Ayacucho

Description: Tomb at the Wari Ruins near Ayacucho. This tomb actually goes down several layers. From here you can see a small circular space in the back: that's where the mummy of the head honcho was placed, curled into a fetal position. On the far right you can see the end of one of two galleries flanking the tomb, also filled with mummies (friends? enemies?). Grain, fabric, and miniature ceramics were placed in the tomb, presumably to be used in the next life.
