Description: Election poster promoting w:Hunter S. Thompson's 1970 run for sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado. The symbol of a two-thumbed fist with a peyote button represented the so-called "Freak Power" movement, Thompson's self-proclaimed base of support. Thompson wrote about his campaign in the article "The Battle of Aspen", published in Rolling Stone magazine no. 67 (October 1, 1970).
