Description: This is a photograph of The Pillars, a Greek Revival Antebellum plantation home in Lowndesboro, Alabama. It was built in 1857 by Mr. Archibald Tyson a cotton planter that moved from North Carolina. The house is a two story heart pine wood frame construction with two large columned porticos. One entrance faces west which is supported by six fluted Doric columns and the other faces south with four fluted Doric columns. Both columned porticos have an up stairs small balustrade balcony.
