Description: Built in 1920, the Giru International Hotel was originally one of three hotels in the small township that is home to workers at the Giru Mill. A large two-storey timber pub, these days it is a favourite stopover point for fishermen heading for the Haughton River or out into Cleveland Bay to chase barramundi, mud crabs and some of the best fishing in North Queensland. The pub has a strong fishing theme, and there are always a few locals around to tell stories about how big the barramundi really get! publocation.com.au/pubs/qld/giru/giru-international-hotel
