Description: The John Pynchon homestead known as the Old Fort as it appeared in a nineteenth-century history book. Constructed in 1660, the brick house was razed in 1831 for the construction of a more modern structure. Its current portrayal is based on a sketch by the city's Reverend William Bourne Oliver Peabody.
