Description: Which are the best ITTF associations in the entire history of table tennis? Founded in 1926, the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), is the governing body for all national table tennis associations. The present graphic visualization keeps track of all the results achieved by the best ITTF associations in almost one hundred years of competitions. Based on the official ITTF data, all associations that have ever placed in top 10 in women’s and men’s singles ranking were taken into consideration. Each association is represented by a wave, determined by the number of players in top 10 proportionally weighted with their rank: the higher the wave, the better the players performed. This way, the visualization does not focus on absolute values, but on relative comparisons between associations. The resulting graph not only shows how the protagonists of this sport changed over time, but also highlights the different performances of female and male athletes of the same nationalities. Original graph created with RAWGraphs and then appropriately edited by own user. .mw-parser-output td.mbox-imageright{border:none;padding:2px 0.9em 2px 0;text-align:center}.mw-parser-output td.mbox-empty-cell{border:none;padding:0;width:1px} This image has been created during "DensityDesign Integrated Course Final Synthesis Studio" at Politecnico di Milano, organized by DensityDesign Research Lab in 2023.
