Description: The Queen's Swan Uppers (white flag, far right) and swan uppers from the Vintners' Company (red flag) and Dyers' Company conducting Swan Upping (an annual census of the swan population) on the Thames in Abingdon. The skiffs surround the swans so that the swan uppers can catch the birds. They are then weighed, measured, tagged and released.
