Description: The Staten Island Ferry-Boat Disaster -- Recovery of Dead Bodies at Whitehall Slip, a wood engraving drawn by Sol Ettinge, Jr., and published in Harper's Weekly, August 12, 1871. The boiler of the ferry Westfield exploded on June 30, 1871, leaving some 85 dead and hundreds injured.
