Description: Lamport and Holt Ltd 13,245 GRT liner Voltaire, built by Workman, Clark & Co in Belfast in 1923. Requesitioned in the Second World War and converted into an Armed Merchant Cruiser. Shelled and sunk in the North Atlantic on April 18th 1941 by the German auxiliary cruiser Thor, killing 74 of her 269 crew. Thor captured the survivors and made them prisoners of war.
