Description: 8,747 GRT merchant ship British Maple, built by Swan, Hunter of Wallsend, Northumberland in 1898 as Mount Royal for Elder, Dempster of Liverpool. Canadian Pacific bought her in 1903. The Admiralty requisitioned her in 1914 and converted her into the dummy battleship HMS Marlborough. In 1915 she was converted into a fleet oiler and renamed Rangol. In 1916 the Admiralty renamed her Mapleleaf and contracted Lane & MacAndrew to manage her. The British Tanker Company bought her in 1919 and renamed her British Maple in 1920. She was hulked in 1933, used for storage at Rosyth until 1935 and then scrapped.
