Description: Brynhyfryd mansion at Blackstone, Ipswich, ca. 1930 This mansion was later demolished when it was considered unsafe because of mining beneath it. It was the home of Lewis Thomas MLA, who established coal mining in Queensland. The home was erected between 1889 and 1890. A stained glass window inside the home indicated that it was presented by the Blackstone Congregational Church. Lewis Thomas' only daughter Mary, married Thomas Bridson Cribb, jnr., in 1901.
