Description: Sign reads: This section of the road was built around 1905. Chinese labour was used to carve the cutting out of the sandstone using only hand tools. An improved crossing of the range was built by Bauhinia Shire in the late 1920's to the north of this site. The current highway was complete in 1979 Bauhinia Shire Council for a cost of $1.73 million.
