The tent-like structure in lower foreground is the Botanic Garden. The building with the smokestack is the Gas Works. The squareish, two-and-a-half-story building is the Washington Armory, and the Armory Square Hospital buildings extend onto the mall from left to right. The Smithsonian Castle is visible in the background, and beyond it is the unfinished Washington Monument and the Potomac River.
