Adelaide (Adelheid) Souchay was the cousin of Cécile Mendelssohn Bartholdy, wife of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The inscription reads: In memory of Charles Isaac Souchay born July 22nd 1799 Died Nov 11th 1872 Math: 5.V.8. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God 1.Cor: 13.V.7. Charity beareth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things 1.Cor: 13.V.13.and now abideth faith, hope, charity. These three; but the greatest of these is charity. Also of Adelaide Souchay Wife of the above Born October 9th 1809 Died January 20th 1890 Matt: II. V. 28. Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
