Description: Cartoon from the Daily Mirror 22nd. October 1906. A parody of William Lever, whose factory was named Port Sunlight. The aim of the Soap Trust had been idealistic, as Lever stated, aiming to provide "a cheaper product...a more abundant product...a better product". The Press and public disagreed. See Wilson, Charles. The History of Unilever. London, 1954, chapter 6, pp72-88 The Crisis of 1906. This cartoon published p.81.
