Description: To the east of the mosque and accessible from the north garden as well as along the south with a small path there is a set of mausolea that, although often closed (but luckily increasingly often opened, they used to be closed always), are well worth a visit. Inside some of them are excellent Iznik tiles from the best periods. The Strolling through Istanbul guidebook stresses that they span a wider range of time then the mausolea at the Hagia Sophia.
