Description: Seal of the Town of Athol, Massachusetts, featuring the likeness of Col. John Murray, of Rutland, Massachusetts, who owned considerable land in the town and was among its incorporators. Murray, a Tory, was chased away from the Colony following the revolution and a portrait of him, which now resides in New Brunswick adorns the town iconography today.
