Description: Savick Brook - 'The Ribble Link' Until a few years ago Savick Brook was a largely ignored stream which flowed around Preston and into the River Ribble. In 2000 - 2002 Savick Brook was extensively re-engineered to create the 'Ribble Link' - the first new canal development in the 21st century. The Ribble Link joins the Lancaster canal with the River Ribble and hence into the Leeds/Liverpool canal, the first time that the Lancaster Canal has been joined to the rest of the canal network by water in its life. This is the lower end of the link, approaching the sea loch (the river beyond is tidal).
