Description: Sargent Bridge across the Middle Loup River south of Sargent, Nebraska; seen from the southeast. The Pratt through truss bridge was built in 1908, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is no longer used for vehicle traffic: a new bridge located downstream from the old one now carries U.S. Highway 183 across the river. The bridge is at the head of a small island in midstream; in the picture, the near truss crosses the channel south of the island, while the far truss crosses the channel to the north.
