Description: British silver crown commemorating the capture of Sardinia and Minorca in 1708. This commemorative coin was designed by John Croker in London (1708). Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Obverse: Draped bust of Anne, Queen of Great Britain, with inscription in Latin: ANNA.D.G.MAG.BRI.FRA.ET.HIB.REG ("Anne, by the Grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, France and Ireland") Reverse: Winged Victory (Nike) standing on a shell in the sea and holding a palm branch and the British standard; in the background the two conquered islands; with Latin inscription: SARDINIA ET BALEARIS MINOR CAPTAE ("Sardinia and Minorca captured") Exergue: year MDCCVIII (1708).
