Description: Santiam Lake, headwaters of the North Santiam River, as seen from the west base of Three Fingered Jack (about 1.5 miles east) on the Pacific Crest Trail. The meadow in the foreground extends from Three Fingered Jack; the rocky portions are streambeds of intermittent spring runoff torrents. The partially visible rise at left edge is Maxwell Butte (6229 ft/1899 m). The range of foothills in the distance (right to left) include the Three Pyramids (18 km distant), Crescent Mountain, and Echo Mountain.
